What Will a Diamond Buyer Look At?
So, what will a diamond buyer look at when determining the value of your diamond? Well, in the world of diamonds and jewelry, jewelers generally start by looking at the 4Cs -- this means carat weight, color, cut, and clarity.
Carat weight is a pretty obvious one -- bigger diamonds are worth more than smaller ones in most cases, when all is otherwise pretty much equal.
Color and clarity and two other things we look at -- basically, we look at how close to clear a diamond is and whether or not it has imperfections. As you can probably imagine, higher quality diamonds are worth more money. However, even diamonds that aren't of a super high quality often still look good to the naked eye and are still valuable, so don't get worried -- your diamond is still valuable here.
We also look at the cut. Some cuts are more expensive for diamond makers to make and are more popular around the globe, like the round cut diamond...this makes it more valuable than some other cuts. However, other cuts like the princess cut are still valuable.
Lastly, we will look at things that may not really relate to the diamond itself at all, such as the condition of the piece of jewelry it is set in, what kind of precious metals that piece of jewelry is made from, and so on. Rest assured, we will look carefully at your piece and provide you with a professional offer in just a few minutes. It's what we do!
